60X Custom Strings was founded by Brad Patsy, a multi-world and national champion archer. After being frustrated when his fast flight bow string or cables would stretch and need to be retimed often, Brad decided to learn how to build his own bow strings. Since he was already doing his own bow work and building his own arrows, learning how to build bow strings was the logical next step. He invested in the equipment, taught himself a few lessons, and started twisting up custom strings.
At the time, all-black strings were the norm. But, Brad built bow strings in flashy colors, drawing the attention of other archers. Soon, people came asking for Brad to build unique strings for their bows too.
Brad continued his hobby for years, perfecting the art of string building. In the winter of 2010, Brad shared his idea of turning this hobby into a business with a close friend. Feeling motivated and encouraged by his buddy, Brad invested $1,000 in string material in his signature flashy colors, and 60X Custom Strings was born.
Over the years, a lot has changed, but a lot has remained the same, too. The company has grown—now there is an awesome team who has become part of the 60X family and journey. Brad and the rest of the 60X team still make each string individually to ensure the highest level of quality. 60X has also branched out to sell other archery supplies, like bow presses, dampeners, fletching jigs and clamps, and bow string material. The future is bright!
