Ryan Davis recently took home the bronze medal in men's barebow at the World Archery Games. A 60X Staff Shooter, Davis has only been shooting barebow since 2020. Davis is an ironworker by trade and is married with two sons. You can read on to learn more about his archery journey.

How did you get involved in archery?

• Started hunting at the age of 21. Preferred bow hunting for the challenge. This led to shooting recurves for a greater challenge in 2018-2019.

How long have you been shooting?

• I've been shooting wood recurves since the winter of 2018-2019. Shot some local tournaments with a wood recurve during 2019. Switched to barebow the beginning of 2020.

What are your current equipment choices?

• 27" Gillo GT with 38 lb. Uukha Evo2 limbs
• 41 lbs. on the fingers
• Fairweather tabs
• Victory VAP
• 800 Spine Arrows
• Zniper Rest
• Beiter Plunger
• 8125 60X Custom Strings

What notable competitions have you won?

• Some state level indoor
• Some state level 3D
• ASA Pro/AM - Foley - 2021
• World Games - Bronze - Men's Barebow - 2022

Do you prefer indoor or outdoor archery?

• Currently prefer WA field archery but I do enjoy all types

Do you prefer 3D or target archery?

• Don't have a preference, they are different games and enjoy both.

What is your favorite 3D target?

• Small ones at max distance!

What is your least favorite 3D target? 

• Don't have one.

What is your favorite tournament venue?

• Lancaster Classic is a blast. ASA Pro/AM are a bunch of fun too. Really, any of the larger tournaments are a good time!

What is the coolest thing about competing in archery tournaments?

• Besides meeting great people, I'd have to say trying to better myself and gain experience.

What is your favorite archery moment of all time?

• Winning the bronze medal at The World Games.

What is your advice for someone just getting started in archery?

• Find the best archer local to you and make friends with them.
• Keep an open mind.
• Show up to as many tournaments as you can.

What do you like to do when you're not shooting?

• Spend time with my family.

What is your favorite sport other than archery?

• Fly Fishing
• Canoeing

What is your greatest accomplishment?

• Becoming the best husband and father I can be!

What is your favorite kind of music?

• Rock

What are your words to live by?

• Only worry about the things you can control.
