As a general rule of thumb the actual length of the string needed for a recurve or longbow will be 3″ shorter than AMO length of the bow.  The AMO length is often stamped on the bow along with the poundage and draw length.   With that said the AMO standards aren’t always followed. If your bow does not have a string or you want to double check the measurement by measuring the bow unstrung. To do so measure from string groove to string groove following the curve of the limbs and along the belly of the bow.

Bowstrings are measured at the industry standard of 100lbs of tension so please order accordingly. If measuring hand tight the bowstring will measure up to 1″ shorter depending on bow string material. Returns are not accepted on custom colors if incorrect length is ordered. Please Contact us with any questions prior to ordering.

No creep. High speed. Quiet. Great wear. I recommend buying a matched set so you always have a spare.

    8125G Recurve string

I have used quite a few different high performance recurve bow strings with my Martin hunter in the last 10 years of ownership. Since setting up and tuning my bow with new string i have shot it several hundred times. Zero creep, stretch or change in brace height. Excellent material and excellent workmanship. Will be reordering several backups soon.

Second time I order this string (first one got ruined due to a limb shattering) and the result is the same... An extremely hight quality string that looks beautiful on my bow

65” 8125 two color recurve string

Excellent string. Workmanship is first class: all servings are tight, consistent and of appropriate length. It’s more predictable and slightly faster than the Fast Flight Flemish twist string it replaced. I won’t hesitate to do business with 60x in the future.

60X 8125 Dynema for Olympic recurve. Highly recommended.

Excellent build and overall quality. Proper brace height was achieved with adding only 1 twist so length was very accurate. I specified nock size and the arrow clicks in with perfect tension. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly 60X finished and delivered the string.

    Great string

The best string I have shot in some 40 some years. Very little stretch and I picked up 6 FPS. I’ll definitely get more for my other bow. Thanks 60 x

    8125 recurve string

Great string! The serving was a tad small for the nock specified, but a single layer of serving thread took care of it. The staff was awesome and very helpful/polite.

So, what’s important about an Olympic recurve bow string? Well, its my only contact using fingers for one. You don’t want to string to stretch. You want the center serving to be perfect. It’s great to have many choices of colors as well. Production and mailing time is short. If you want a 66-1/4” length, no problem. If you email them, THEY GET BACK TO YOU! What’s not to like??

    Recurve 8125

After putting a twist in here and there during the first 300-400 arrows the string hasn’t moved a bit. That’s with about 1000 more arrows through it.

I have a 60x string on my pse compound, so I thought I would try one for my long bow I just purchased, the fit was great and seems to be faster too

    8125 Custom Recurve Bow String

Posted by Eric Kimminai on May 14th 2019

Did some archery investigation and tuning tonight. Spent the last 2 hours string tuning, chrono testing and group testing between my original “Tommy’s Best” recurve string (66”) and a brand new @60X Custom Bow String strings 67” 8125 string. With the Tommy’s string at 22.8cm/9” brace height I was 172-173fps generating a 78db peak on arrow release. To get good groups with least noise on shot I had to take 20 twists out of the string. There were only about 5 twists left which I wasn’t real happy about. I put on the 67” 60X 8125 string out of the package and saw 22.2cm/8.34” brace height, 80.7db peak and 173fps. Lower brace height, same speed, more noise. Added 10 twists and saw 22.8cm/9” brace, 77db and 176fps. Added 10 twists. 23.5cm/9.5” brace, 74db and 174fps with lots of right tail lean at Target. Added 10 twists 24.6cm/10” brace, 76.7db at 174fps. Subtracted 15 twists for 23cm/9.5” brace for 76.4db at 172fps. Subtracted 5 more twists for 75-76db and 176 FPS. Arrows are pretty straight and are grouping fantastic. See images. Summary is 60X string wants exact same brace height on my Win&Win Nano TFT 25” riser with W&W Elite A 38# limbs with 31.5” draw for 44#. 60X 8125 String is ~2db quieter and 3fps faster than Tommy’s Best. Very happy with the quality of 60X string. Tied in my first recurve nock point. Not real happy with the job but it’s tight and hopefully won’t move. Learning more about this recurve stuff every time I shoot.
