We generally recommend ordering new crossbow strings every two years. However, that’s just a rough timeframe, and you may need to replace your string and cables more frequently if you shoot regularly, use a low-end crossbow, or use a narrow, high-performance crossbow.

How much does it cost to restring a crossbow?
The cost of restringing your crossbow will depend on whether you’re bringing it to a shop or replacing it yourself. In addition to the up-front cost of the string, we strongly recommend replacing your cables at the same time.
If you’re having a professional install your custom crossbow strings and cables, prices can range from as little as $10 to as much as $200, depending on the job. For example, replacing the string on a mini pistol-style crossbow is a 5-minute task, while a high-end hunting crossbow may require a full setup and tune.
