Frequently Asked Questions
Do bow strings go bad if not used?
Although bow strings don’t expire after a certain amount of time, they’re under a tremendous amount of pressure once installed, which can eventually cause them to fray or break.
You can extend the lifespan of your Diamond bow string by waxing it, storing your bow properly, cleaning dirt and debris, using a string loop, and never dry-firing.

How often should you replace a bow string?
We generally recommend that frequent shooters replace their strings and cables every two years.
With that said, it’s important to regularly perform a bow string inspection for signs of excessive fuzzing, damaged or broken strands, abnormalities like squashed or flat sections, or any sign that the string is unraveling or close to breaking.
You may also need a new Diamond bow string if your bow isn’t performing as well as it once did. Many of our customers are blown away after installing their new Diamond Archery replacement strings. Bow strings usually wear out very gradually, so you may not realize that your bow’s performance is suffering until you upgrade the string!

How often should I lube bow strings?
On average, frequent shooters should apply a new coat of wax every 2-4 weeks. You may need to wax more frequently as your bow string ages. Apply wax whenever you notice that your Diamond bow string looks dry, dull, or fuzzy.
